Putting my two cents in.
One Major lesson I learned...it's kinda parallel with what Jessica said:
Love to your spouse is a debt to pay daily rather than a need to be satisfied.
What I mean by that is: as Christ has loved the church, not based on our merit but because he determined to by His grace, likewise we must love our wives. Daily we are in debt to our spouses to show love constantly in such a high ratio as opposed to our manly needs to be satisfied. Christ showed us grace, continues to show grace, and is promised to show future grace...so why shouldn't we? We do a hundred things daily that just gets on the Lord's nerves but He continues to show kindness and mercy. It's our prerogative to live up to those standards of a sacrificial husband and of course, only with the power and source of the Holy Spirit. I don't know if that makes sense but it really transformed my thinking and gave a solidity to the root of my marriage.

One thing I learned early on as a married couple is that when my hubby leaves a mess (which happened often, especially with his clothes) I go ahead and clean it up and think of all the reasons I love him and how thankful for him I am. And that this small "act" of love is worth the time b/c I love my husband. He is still working on not leaving his clothes on the floor but its not a big deal. It's just one more way I can serve him and show him how important he is to me. =)

If you're not used to the way your wife does something, RELAX. You have the rest of your life to get used to it. If you can't stand her mess, allocate it to her closet/room. Let that be her territory. :)

Exactly bro thats why I love Pauline epistles as there is a continued call to Gospel centerdness. Paul knows very well that even a sense of community cannot hold good if tradition or culture is central, unless there is a realization of the Church being a Gospel community there will not be the kind of unity and grace displayed in working together as a body. Every now and then because of the wickedness of our own frail nature or even because of other influence there has to be a need for continual preaching. I feel it good that every believer preach the gospel to their own selves that a dangerous over familiarity does not grow for this is breeding grounds for complacency. Complacency causes one to engage their time with all kind of unhealthy craze even in the Church.
Christ is all

Wes- double ouch

Sujith- Great thought man, I'm reminded of Paul writing to the Corinthians. Even through the struggles they faced with adapting to the culture around them, and even with the immorality among certain members of the church he still addresses the gospel "as of first importance." It is on this gospel we are to take our stand. Thanks for pointing this out brother.

Dude I'm starting to love your blog. Man... anytime anyone opens their mouth to comment on God they are already on the premises of theology so one might as well have good theology :)
The pursuit of theology may lead to some intellectual pride but the pursuit of God will keep that in check. I used to be one of those soldout traditionalist who taught that everyone who pursued theology ended up confused. When The Lord actually opened my eyes I realized how mislead I was in my perception. The Bible is not all mysticism, It is a systematic revelation of God. Genesis to revelation is one seamless story of God's heart for man and His passion for The Glory of His own Great Name. When He is the object of your affection theology[good theology] naturally becomes a subject of interest. One area that we terrribly lack is a systematic understanding of God's Word. Lot of our[mal community] youngsters don;'t have the acquired discipline of enjoying God's word because of which they fall for every whackjob interpretation. I think that good theology is an indispensable part of your journey with God.

I think the number one mistake that we are making irrespective of what generation or subculture you belong to is not being 'Gospel centered'. We have somehow bought into this religious lie that behavioral modification of some kind will result in greater devotion to Christ. The problem with this notion is that based on each person's perspective what they see as ideal will change. This soon will result in people choosing sides and ending up with a long list of wrongs. The truth is that the Gospel needs to be at the center of our agendas, this is when healthy Church growth happens. We cannot place tradition or Culture in the center and keep the Gospel in the periphery, it just is a formula for disaster. When we have a community of people irrespective of generational differences affected by The Gospel we start to see changes.
I have seen so many people being quick to find fault with the fact that the Malayali mindset is a hindrance to growth. Thats just not true, I am a first generation Christ follower who've lived most of my life in India. There are tonnes of amazingly run, Gospel centered Malayali Churches in India. There health is evidenced by the growth and impact that the make in their particular communities.
Unless we see the Gospel clearly and realize the Grace extended to us we will continue to be easily satisfied with distractions like unhealthy politics or a spot on the stage. Their has to be a return to The Gospel. The Good news that we are savoring this grace that is absolutely unmerited and that we have been called to offer the same Grace to others. This is when you become willing participants in the purpose of God and have the Glory of God in mind.Sorry about the length of the post.Keep writing bro...
